Hello, I’m The Great Indian Gulpie

You can call me TGI Gulpie. As someone that loves food, I’m constantly in search of new things to try. Every new dish, every new cuisine is a whole new experience to me. I mostly write about my food explorations in Bengaluru. Sometimes, I travel. And when I do, I write about those places that make my tastebuds go gaga.

As every food lover can imagine, I take my food seriously. Everyday, I end up spending hours finding the next awesome dish to try. The next amazing restaurant. The next perfect dining experience for that occasion. As I ate through my neighborhood, I pretty quickly ran out of places to eat around me. That’s when I started to look for places in the next neighborhood. And then, a couple of weeks later, the neighborhoods a few miles away from me. Sooner than later, I ate through the entire city. And then the challenge became finding new places—the ones that flew under my radar, the ones that aren’t popular enough and those that I haven’t discovered just yet—hidden gems. In a sprawling city like Bengaluru, there are always new restaurants popping up every other week.

Soon, I realised there would be other people going through the same ordeal experience as me. Many food bloggers I ran into on Instagram do things for likes and comments rather than actually helping people discover great places to eat. I found that the dishes and restaurants they shared on social media lead to abysmal experiences when I tried them. I figured it was maybe because they were paid to promote those restaurants. I was disappointed with the status quo. And so, I felt it was time someone stayed authentic to their experiences and truly shared what they discovered. That’s how this blog began.

So far, I have never been paid to write about any restaurants. I like it that way. I’d like to think of it as discovering new restaurants James-Bond-style. That element of surprise is what keeps me going.
